Terms of Use
These terms are the agreement between you and Scuttlebutt for using the Scuttlebutt app and website. By using the app, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
Who can use Scuttlebutt
You must be at least 18 years old and able to agree to these terms. You're responsible for your account and for everything posted from it.
Your content
You own what you post: picks, notes, comments, messages, and anything else. You give Scuttlebutt permission to store it, show it to the members of the groups you share it with, and process it to run the app's features (for example, recording prices for stocks you mention). Picks are locked once posted so everyone's record stays honest: you can end a pick or add an update, but not change its stock, direction, or entry price.
Community rules
Groups are private, but the rules still apply. Don't use Scuttlebutt to:
- harass, threaten, or bully anyone, or post hateful, sexual, or violent content;
- share material non-public information about a company, or encourage anyone to trade on it;
- coordinate pump-and-dump schemes or otherwise try to manipulate the price of a security;
- pretend to be a licensed financial professional, or charge members for picks or advice;
- spam, scam, or promote products or services;
- post other people's private information, or anything you don't have the right to share;
- break the law, or try to break, overload, or get around the app's security.
You can report content or a person by emailing support@scuttlebuttmoney.com. We review reports within 24 hours and may remove content or accounts that break these rules. A group's owner can also remove members from the group.
Market data, news, and AI
Prices may be delayed (typically up to 15 minutes) and can be wrong or missing. News summaries, explanations, and risk summaries are written by AI from public sources and may miss details or contain mistakes; always check the original sources, which the app links to. Performance figures are price returns only and don't include dividends, fees, or taxes.
Portfolios
Portfolios are self-reported from screenshots or what you enter, and aren't verified with your brokerage. Treat friends' portfolios and records accordingly.
Ending your account
You can delete your account anytime in the app. We may suspend or end accounts that break these terms. When an account is deleted, what it posted in groups stays, shown as from "Former member," as described in the Privacy Policy.
The app is provided as is
Scuttlebutt is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, including accuracy of market data, availability, or fitness for a particular purpose. To the fullest extent allowed by law, Scuttlebutt is not liable for any investment losses or for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app.
Changes
We may update these terms. We'll change the date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the app. Continuing to use the app means you accept the updated terms.
